Sciences Po

Founded in 1872, Sciences Po is France’s leading university in the social sciences. For over 140 years, Sciences Po has educated decision-makers in the public and private sectors. Our College offers a three-year undergraduate degree that includes a year abroad at one of 410 partner universities. There are seven graduate schools composed of 30 master’s degrees and five PhD programmes.

Sciences Po offers a multidisciplinary, multilingual and outward looking education. In order to provide a comprehensive curriculum, Sciences Po places great emphasis on fundamental academic courses, professional training and extra-curricular activities. Sciences Po also integrates digital teaching methods into its programmes and continues to develop innovative teaching platforms, such as MOOCs.

Our goal is to open minds and develop critical thinking. We seek to provide students with the essential tools that will enable them to make sense of a complex world. We also provide students with a truly international environment. Our student community comprises 13,000 students – half are international, coming from 150 countries.

The School of Public Affairs

The School of Public Affairs educates public affairs professionals who understand multiple layers of governance. Graduates can pursue a wide range of careers worldwide, spanning the public and private sectors and the local to global levels.

Anchored in its French and European roots, and open to the world, the School of Public Affairs prepares a new kind of citizen and new actors of public affairs. To do so, it:

  • Incorporates a multidisciplinary approach, anchored in social sciences, with a focus on exploring the intersection between public affairs and cutting-edge technologies.

  • Develops an emphasis on policy and decision making 2.0, transitioning from a whole of government to a whole of society approach, to investigate new practices of citizenship and participate democracy.
  • Adopts a multidimensional and panoramic vision of public affairs that embraces a plurality of values, ethics and cultural contexts.

  • Fuses frontier research and pedagogical innovation to equip new actors to harness today’s increasing complexities and to surmount the boundaries of clustered knowledge.

The culture of innovation and exploration is the cornerstone of our philosophy. Policy labs give students the opportunity to collaborate with clients to co-develop and test practical solutions for public policy challenges in the field.

By offering targeted professional programmes for students, young professionals as well as top decision makers, the school prepares the public affairs professionals of tomorrow, in the public and private sectors, at local and global levels, both for reflection and action.
